The Sunshine Coast region stretches across 3127 Square Kilometres (312 700 hectares) from the mountains to the sea with a population of 290 645 (as of 2005).

Location
The Sunshine Coast occupies a highly favoured location in the richly productive and progressive south-east corner of Queensland and is one of Queensland's and Australia's leading tourist destinations, and is easily accessible by road, rail and air.
