Ben Bennett Botanical Park
It's not every day you discover a thriving ecosystem in the middle of one of the fastest growing cities in South East Queensland. But that's just what you'll find when you enter Ben Bennett Botanical Park - a 19 hectare reserve in the heart of Caloundra City boasting walking tracks through the vegetation communities of melaleuca and eucalypt forests, coastal heaths and one of few areas of coastal lowland vine forests.
Considerable work has been done in the park over the past five years to upgrade different facilities within the park. There is now a boardwalk, outdoor education facilities, picnic table settings, a picnic shelter contributed by Rotary Caloundra and a tracks and trails upgrade that is ongoing.
The park also lays claim to being a vital feed area for one of the rarest species of parrot in Australia - the Glossy Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami). In addition, the 55 nest boxes which are located throughout the park are used by a range of animal species from microbats and small birds to possums and gliders. Other fauna species known to inhabit the park include lace monitors, echidnas, yellow-footed antechinus, Eastern grey kangaroos and swamp wallabies.
Ben Bennett Botanical Park is located at Queen Street, Caloundra and adjoins the local high school. Visitor guides for the park are available from Council's Customer Service Centre (1 Omrah Ave) or the Visitor Information Centres across Caloundra City.
Come and enjoy a park that is a pleasant area to walk, to bird watch or just to sit and enjoy a quiet hour.

Currimundi Environmental Park

The waterways themselves contain various species of marine life and attract many different types of birds such as the osprey. The native flora is a home to a diverse range of wildlife.
